Al Decker A native of Lowell, MA – Al’s two greatest passions were music and motorcycles from an early age. He turned to singing after many of his friends told him he played the guitar like he had mittens on. After giving up on guitar, Al spent his time singing and writing in several not so well known original bands (you know how it is). Later on, Larry asked him to front his cover/original band Threshold. After a 12 year, self imposed exile, Al couldn’t take being away any longer. His desire to keep making music – and have a blast doing it – has brought him to Shuvelhed, where he hopes to keep shaking things up in the New England music scene for the next 12 years! |

Joe O’Leary Status: Single and still searching. Skills: Bass, drums, guitar, a little keyboard, vocals. History: Started out playing the sax (no, Bill Clinton wasn’t around then). First sat down behind a set of drums at age 15 and found my natural place in music. Also enjoy playing with the ivory keys. Picked up the bass at age 29, seemed only a natural progression that my love of music brought me to the bass. Now working on the guitar as well. There’s only one other instrument I like to play, but I’m not going to talk about that here. I played in a band called Bad Romeo for for many years, took some time off then I joined Mystic, I Think that was the favorite. I just started with Shuvelhead, and so far working with these guys is a whole lot of fun. Favorite Music: Country, Rock, Classical, Jazz Favorite Drink: Water (no lemon, please) I’m a cheap date, one beer and I’m hosed. Two beers and you can have your way with me and I won’t remember. Hobbies: Remote control aircraft, online gaming, messing with computers, and racing just about anything. Favorite Women: Yes. Most of the time. Favorite Bands: Rush, Rush, Rush, and oh yeah, Rush. Equipment: I’ve had no complaints. OH! You meant musical equipment… I like my 5-string Charvel I also have a sx bass and use a trace elliot amp still looking for the right speaker cab. |

Brian Melton Skills: Drums History:Coming from a musical family, Brian insists he “got the genes” from his Mom, a drummer herself. He first sat down on a friend’s drum set in 7th grade and never looked back. After his discharge from the Army in 1991, he bought a huge Pearl double bass kit “with a million drums and cymbals” and began plugging away at his craft, working in garage bands and eventually original and cover groups such as Shamus Cain, Triaxis, and Nobody’s Bizzness. After selling his kit and taking a few years off, Brian returned to the club scene with a new set of skins playing covers with Morse Code and progressive rock originals with Shimmering Undertow. After both of those bands declined, Brian again took a short time off until he contacted an acquaintance who was just starting up what was to become the band Something Salty and who happened to need a drummer. Playing the Manchester area for over a year it was a great experience with great players. |
